UKThe UK government’s Department of International Trade Export Control Organisation (ECO) will put on this year’s Export Control Symposium on Tuesday 21 March at the Westminster Conference Centre. The symposium will include plenary session covering wide ranging global trading issues, four specialist workshops, and networking “village” for delegates and exhibitors.

The plenary session will cover:

  • Current global trade opportunities and challenges
  • How our new International Trade department can help you
  • Introducing latest development on the new digital licensing platform

Topics will include:

  • Trading implications of sanctions and recent changes
  • Overview of the new EU Dual Use Regulation
  • Risks and Know Your Customer principles

Planned workshops will include: 

New online tools

  • An introduction to the new, streamlined export control pages on GOV.UK and a demonstration of, LITE the replacement for SPIRE

  • Using case studies to clarify issues including private venture security grading and exhibition clearance

US export controls

  • Our own George Grammas will lead the US export controls workshop for beginner and advanced levels (delegates can select levels on registration form)

Know your customer

  • Researching the challenges presented by certain countries and end users
